The rules for using Talko. Last updated 2 September 2026.
Talko is a marketplace for paid one-to-one voice conversations between adults, operated by [Talko legal entity]. Talko provides the platform; conversations are between you and the other member. Talko is not a party to the conversation and does not provide professional advice.
You must be at least 18 and complete identity and age verification before calling or Hosting. One account per person. Keep your sign-in details private.
Prices are shown per minute before every call. When a call starts, the full package price is reserved from your Talko balance. You are charged only for connected time (the Host’s mute pauses charging); the rest is released when the call ends. You may add time during a call at the displayed price. Unanswered or declined calls cost nothing.
Top-ups are processed by Stripe. Your balance can be spent only on Talko calls, does not earn interest and does not expire while your account is open. Refunds of unused balance are available on request within 14 days of a top-up, or where required by law; contact support. When you delete your account, Talko will try to return any unspent Guest balance to the original payment method before deletion completes. If the full amount cannot be returned immediately, the account remains open so no balance is forfeited.
Hosts are independent and set their own rate. Talko keeps a platform fee (currently 20%) from each call. Earnings clear after 7 days and can be withdrawn to a bank account through Stripe. Hosts must accept the Host Agreement.
Follow the Community Standards. Do not harass, threaten, deceive or exploit anyone; do not offer or request sexual services; do not share contact details to move activity off Talko; do not record calls without clear consent; do not impersonate others or misrepresent qualifications. Talko may suspend or close accounts that break these rules and may withhold earnings connected to breaches or fraud.
Talko provides verification, reporting and blocking tools and reviews reports, but cannot guarantee how another person will behave. Use the tools, and contact emergency services if anyone is in danger.
You can delete your account at any time in the app. We may close accounts that are inactive for 24 months after notice, or immediately for serious breaches.
Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise Talko is not liable for the content of conversations, for losses arising from another member’s conduct, or for indirect losses, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid to Talko in the 12 months before the claim.
We may update these terms; material changes will be shown in the app. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. Consumers keep any mandatory protections of their home country.
